Unlock Your Potential: 5 Steps to Personal Success

Success is Within Your Reach: Learn These 5 Essential Steps

Success is an evergreen topic that has always fascinated people. Everyone wants to achieve success in their personal and professional lives, but only a few of them can turn their aspirations into reality. Personal success is a journey, not a destination. It requires hard work, dedication, and a well-planned strategy. In this article, we will discuss the steps to implement strategies for personal success and provide examples for each step.

Step 1: Set clear and achievable goals

The first step towards personal success is to set clear and achievable goals. Goals provide a sense of direction and motivation to keep going. Setting goals also helps to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently. It is essential to set SMART goals- Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, you can set a specific goal of losing 10 pounds in two months.

Step 2: Develop a plan

Once you have set your goals, the next step is to develop a plan to achieve them. A plan should include the necessary steps required to accomplish the goals. It is also crucial to identify potential obstacles and come up with a plan to overcome them. For example, if your goal is to start a business, your plan should include researching the market, developing a business plan, securing funding, and executing the plan.

Step 3: Take action

The next step towards personal success is to take action. It is easy to get stuck in planning and never take action. Taking action requires courage and determination. It is essential to stay motivated and focused on the end goal. For example, if your goal is to learn a new language, you can take action by enrolling in a language course or finding a language exchange partner.

Step 4: Evaluate progress

It is crucial to evaluate your progress regularly. Evaluation helps to identify what is working and what is not. It also provides an opportunity to make adjustments to the plan if necessary. For example, if your goal is to save money, you can evaluate your progress by tracking your expenses and income regularly.

Step 5: Stay committed

Personal success requires commitment and perseverance. It is easy to get discouraged when things don’t go according to plan. However, it is important to stay committed to the end goal and not give up. For example, if your goal is to run a marathon, it is essential to stay committed to the training plan and not give up even if the training gets tough.

In Summary, personal success requires a well-planned strategy, hard work, and dedication. Setting clear and achievable goals, developing a plan, taking action, evaluating progress, and staying committed are the essential steps towards personal success. By following these steps and staying motivated, anyone can achieve their personal and professional goals.

Are You Living on Purpose? Five critical actions you can take to live a longer more fulfilling life!

A popular Japanese television program followed the lives of seven elderly people in the small city of Kyōtango. The ninety- to one-hundred-year-olds were filmed as they went about their day. They woke up, ate small meals, visited family, ran errands, and prepared for bed. It wasn’t the kind of thrilling reality show content you would expect. So why produce it?

Kyōtango and the region around it have three times more residents over the age of one hundred than the rest of Japan. It has produced Olympic athletes, rock stars, and one of the oldest men in history. The producers of the Japanese show wanted to know what made Kyōtango so unique. What they found was truly amazing.

Every person in this region has an ikigai. Ikigai translates to “a reason for being” or “one’s reason for waking up in the morning.” For these Japanese people, their ikigai is their purpose in life. Whether the television producers realized it or not, they discovered an absolute truth. Purpose is the factor that makes life worth living. It doesn’t simply add years to your life; it adds life to your years.

Purpose is the factor that makes the difference. It’s the difference between simply existing and really living. Purpose simplifies decision-making. It makes better leaders, stronger companies, and happier people. Purpose determines the work you do, the relationships you have, and the life you live.

Things You Can Do Immediately to “Live on Purpose”

1. Begin by asking and writing down your answers to life’s biggest two-part question: Why am I here and what am I supposed to do about it? Develop a description of actions you will take to realize your Purpose. They should include your answers to the “purpose” questions.

2. Create a “Picture” of what would be taking place if you are living on Purpose right now…today! What would your day include?

3. Develop a step-by-step “Plan” to live on purpose.

4. List the “Parts” or roles you and others will need to take on to make the plan work.

5. And finally, describe the “Payoff” or benefits you will receive as a result of “living on Purpose”.

When you “Live on Purpose” everything changes. Every day matters. Every setback has significance. Money comes easier. Relationships prosper. You do more than get by; you are pulled by what you have to help others. If you’ve lived long enough without the clarity you crave then it’s time to go from simply existing to really living and make EVERY Day matter!

For more tips, tools, and how-to strategies to “Live on Purpose”, you will find the book: “Mastering Secrets of Personal Success” extremely helpful. Follow the link below:

10 Life Lenses that Change Your Results! … 4 New Lenses to Add

Introduction

There is a Powerful Personal Success technology which can revitalize your “mind-ware” to unleash your personal power and creativity.

In the last installment, I mentioned 4 Life Lenses. Below, you will find 4 additional Lenses you can use…

1. If It’s Possible for One person It’s Possible for Others.

Very often, one of the things that limits us is our own beliefs. “I can’t” often means “I don’t believe I can”. Check it out for yourself and, if it’s possible for someone, what’s stopping you?

2. The Meaning of Your Communication is the Response You Get.

Sometimes our words, body language and voice convey a message that is received differently from the message we intended. Instead of blaming others for misinterpreting, take responsibility for your own communication and consider how else you can get your message across more effectively.
Whether talking or listening take 100% responsibility for the communication.

3. I Am In Charge Of My Mind and, Therefore, My Results.

If you’re not in charge of your mind, who is? Begin by taking responsibility for your behavior and state of mind rather than being affected by those around you. Recognize that you have choices.
Responsibility = Response + Ability or Ability to choose how to respond. Know that you are “Reponse Able”.

Your past is not your potential. The future is there for you to shape.

4. Flexibility Creates Success

Instead of expecting people around you to change, think how you can do things differently to improve relationships, influence and results. Flexibility is a strength that brings increased influence and control.

You Must Be the Change You Want to See in the World – M. K. Gandhi

Important: Putting It Into Practice

Now it is up to you to take each of these Lenses and apply them in your life to make them a part of “who” and “how” you are. One approach is to focus on one technique per week and find ways to use it. Be sure to notice the results you get and how your results improve with every application. The Personal Success Coaching Center Online “Revitalize” skill-building workshop will teach you some powerful ways to use these and many other Lenses for a measurable positive impact in your life!

Removing Limiting Beliefs. By Dr. Ed Hubbard

In order to remove limiting beliefs, you should think of your beliefs as the difference between a thermostat and a thermometer. A thermometer’s only function is to react to the environment around it. A thermostat, though, engages with the environment and makes the environment react to it.

There are three keys to fixing your limiting beliefs. The first key is to name your limiting beliefs. When you put a name to the belief, you can tackle it head-on because you know it. It also makes it easier to identify the origin of the belief. This helps you identify the voices in your head so you can flip them.

The second key is to get to the facts. In other words, if there’s a belief you’ve internalized, where are the facts or evidence to support it? When you have to look for facts, you can often see that they aren’t there and that in fact, the opposite may be true. This helps you fix the limiting belief. In the same way, make sure to examine how your own beliefs may have limited your performance, rather than letting your performance impact your beliefs.

The third key is to create a new belief. This new belief will impose over the old belief. You can do this by supplanting the old belief and having a belief that is supported by the facts. This will give you a healthier mindset going forward.

A positive mindset leads to a result of positive emotions, which then impacts positive behavior. This is because positive emotions broaden your sense of possibilities and open your mind, thereby allowing you to create new skills and resources to provide value to your life.

Remember, you become what you believe. And, depending on your “self-talk”, you will convince yourself it is true.

Actions to Take:

Write responses to the following:

1. Name the Limiting Beliefs and think about where and how it started? Who or what convinced you this belief was true? If this is not what you want…CHANGE IT!

2. Get the facts. Often these beliefs are not true and you have the power to change them. Remember, all beliefs start in our minds. The question is “what have you told yourself to believe and why?” What does this reinforce about Who You Are or Who you want to be? Is that what you want? Don’t limit your challenges, instead, challenge your limits!

3. Create NEW BELIEFS. Support them with evidence of the things you have overcome or have done successfully in the past. Write down how you successfully achieved the outcome. Write the specifics of your NEW BELIEFS. What specifically you will do differently. What your NEW self-talk will be. Identity what triggers the limiting beliefs and write specifically what you will do if and when it happens.

4. Set a date to review how your behavior has changed for the better. Notice how this new set of beliefs makes you feel. What new possibilities has it opened up for you? How do you see yourself now having acted upon these new beliefs.

5. Celebrate the “new you” in some way that is meaningful and special to you. Believe in your potential and create the life you want!

Limiting Beliefs and their Impact

Limiting beliefs usually center round, ‘I can’t …’ If it is true, regard this phrase as simply a statement of fact that is valid for the present moment only. For example to say, ‘I can’t juggle’ means I can (not juggle). It is very easy not to juggle. Anyone can do it.

Attacking Your Limits

Believing that ‘I can’t’ is a description of your capability now not what is possible in the future. It will program your brain to fail, and this will prevent you from finding out your true capability. Negative beliefs have no basis in actual experience.

A good metaphor for the effect of limiting beliefs is the way a frog’s eye works. A frog will see most things in its immediate environment, but it only interprets things that move and have a particular shape and configuration as food. This is a very efficient way of providing the frog with food such as flies. However, because only moving black objects are recognized as food, a frog will starve to death in a box of dead flies. So perceptual filters, that are too narrow and too efficient, can starve us of good experiences, even when we are surrounded by exciting possibilities, because they are not recognized as such.

The best way to find out what you are capable of is to pretend you can do it. Act ‘as if you can. What you can’t do, you won’t. If it really is impossible, don’t worry, you’ll find that out. (And be sure to set up appropriate safety measures if necessary.) As long as you believe it is impossible, you will actually never find out if it is possible or not.

We are not born with beliefs as we are with eye color. They change and develop. We think of ourselves differently, we marry, divorce, change friendships, and act differently because our beliefs change. Beliefs can be a matter of choice. You can drop beliefs that limit you and build beliefs that will make your life more fun and more successful. Positive beliefs allow you to find out what could be true and how capable you are. They are permissions to explore and play in the world of possibility. What beliefs are worth having that will enable and support you in your goals? Think of some of the beliefs you have about yourself. Are they useful Are they permissions or barriers) We all have core beliefs about love, and what is important in life. We have many others about our possibilities and happiness that we have created, and can change. An essential part of being successful is having beliefs that allow you to be successful. Empowering beliefs will not guarantee success every time, but they keep you in a resourceful state and capable of succeeding in the end. You can learn more about building empowering beliefs in my book “Mastering Secrets of Personal Success: Tools to Create the Life You Want

9781883733209kin Bkup

There have been a few studies at Stanford University on ‘Self-Efficacy Expectation’, or how our behavior changes to match a new belief. The study was about how well people think they do something, compared to how well they actually do it A variety of tasks were used, from mathematics to snake handling. At first, beliefs and performance matched, people performed as they thought they would. Then the researchers set about building the subjects’ belief in themselves by setting goals, arranging demonstrations, and giving them expert coaching, Expectations rose, but performance typically dropped because they were trying out new techniques. There was a point of maximum difference between what they believed they could do, and what they were actually achieving. If the subjects stuck to the task, their performance would rise to meet their expectations. If they became discouraged, it dropped to its initial level. Think for a moment of three beliefs that have limited you. Go ahead and write them down. Now, in your mind, look into a huge, ugly mirror. Imagine how your life will be in five years if you continue to act as if these limiting beliefs were true. How will your life be in ten years? In twenty?

Now, take a moment to clear your mind. Stand up, walk around or take a few deep breaths. Now think of three new beliefs that would empower you, that would truly enhance the quality of your life. You can stop for a few seconds to write these down now. Get these images of the words stating these beliefs clearly in your mind. Make a large sign with these belief statements on it. In your mind, look into a big, friendly mirror. Imagine yourself acting as if these new beliefs were really true. How will your life be in five years now? In ten years? In twenty?

Changing our beliefs allows our behavior to change, and it changes quickest if you are given a capability or strategy to accomplish the task. You can also change a person’s belief through changing their behavior, but this is not as reliable as being given a capability or strategy along with the belief change. Some people are never convinced by repeated experiences. They see only disconnected coincidences. Beliefs are an important part of our personality, yet they are expressed in extraordinarily simple terms: if I do this … then that will happen. “I can”…and “I can’t”… And these are translated into: “I must” … “I should”. . “I must not” … The words become compelling.

How do these words gain their power over us? Language is an essential part of the process we use to understand the world and express our beliefs. Remember, there is a saying that states “If you think you can, you’re right, If you think you can’t, you’re right.” It depends on what you think! The lesson is, think about what you think about. It can make the difference in what you believe you can do. Don’t limit your challenges, challenge your limits!

Strategies to Achieve Your Goals

Dealing with Life and Goal Achievement

“An Excerpt for the upcoming book: Mastering Secrets of Personal Success by Dr. Edward E. Hubbard. Publication Date: April, 2015. Pre-Publication Orders Available Now!”

We’re all busy. Life doesn’t necessarily lend itself to achieving your personal or business goals. If you learn these simple time management tools, you will achieve anything you desire, much faster than you would if you waited around for “when I have time”.

Time is given to us at 60 seconds to the minute, 60 minutes to the hour, 24 hours in the day. Nobody has more time than anyone else. Successful people and unsuccessful people have the same amount of time. What’s the difference? The difference is in how they use it. Successful people have mastered the tools and techniques to get more accomplished in the time they have. They know the rules: “You can Make Excuses or You Can Make Progress, But You Can’t Do Both”!

Have you noticed how some people, and indeed some organizations, seem to be ‘aligned’, in that they are really congruent (i.e., committed to and having their total energy focused on) in what they are doing. These individuals are often described as ‘having charisma’, ‘knowing what they are about, and are rarely deflected from going for what they want. Signs of aligned organizations are that there are few internal politics, they focus on the customers and getting the job done efficiently, and everyone knows their role and what is expected of them. One of the strategies of Personal Success Mastery called the “Logical Levels” can help both individuals and organizations to achieve this kind of alignment to achieve their goals. Let’s explore this strategy with an example.

When individuals feel they cannot achieve their goal or mission, they might make the statement: “I can’t do that here”. They seem defeated before they even start. Maybe you have made this statement at some point in your life and did not consider its impact on your options to get what you wanted. Using the “Logical Levels Model”, let’s consider six possible interpretations of this statement:

  • If your emphasis is on “here”, it implies that there is something about the place or the environment e., You could do it elsewhere, but not “here”? A more empowering and relevant question would be “where” could you do it?
  • If your emphasis is on “that”, it implies that you don’t know what behaviors to do. A more empowering and relevant question would be “what”? i.e., “what” do I do in this situation?
  • If your emphasis is on “do”, it implies that you don’t have the skills/ abilities/capabilities to do it. You don’t know “how” to do it.
  • If your emphasis is on “can’t”, it implies that you don’t believe you can do it, and/or it is not important to you and doesn’t fit with your values. In other words, you don’t have reasons “why” to do it.
  • If the emphasis is on ‘I’, it implies that you are not the sort of person to do this, that it doesn’t fit with your “identity” or sense of self “Who” are you to do this)
  • A further possibility is that it doesn’t fit with your sense of purpose or your Purpose is about considering “who else” is affected.

Taking Charge of Your Mind, Your Life, and Your Destiny

What follows is a sneak peak at my new book: “Mastering Secrets of Personal Success” by Dr. Edward E. Hubbard. It is a How-to” guide designed to help you create the life you want using actions you can take immediately to make major shifts in your journey towards personal success.

The United Negro College Fund has a slogan that states in part: “A mind is a terrible thing to waste”. This statement is true no matter what race, culture, gender, background, etc., you happen to be. Our minds are extremely powerful instruments. When we are born, we do not come out with a preloaded software manual that automatically tells us as owners and operators how to use it in the most effective way. This book is designed to take you on a “how-to”, skills-based journey in the study of your mind. It is designed to help you create “Excellence”, meaning, and fulfillment in your life. It will help you discover the “secrets of personal success” to develop concrete tools to master the power of your mind. These Secrets are the mechanisms that drive your beliefs and the decisions you make. It is the effective use of this instruction set which ultimately produces the results you achieve that generates the road to your destiny and the life you want.

This book will change your life. It offers a model for learning how to recognize and create sustainable change in your life. It provides a method to “de-construct” the elements of personal success and “chunk them down” into practical, manageable components in a step-by-step fashion. It is structured to help you create actions that will drive measurable changes in your life. It is the combination of these actions that support you in producing the outcomes and results you want.

Along this journey, you will access your executive powers and awaken and utilize the higher levels of your mind. We will explore some of the rules that govern our minds and emotions, how we build excellence and expertise, how to overcome complacency and limiting beliefs, and how to use the mind-muscle connection that enables us to translate “concepts” into everyday actions, and much more. It is designed to help you cultivate personal mastery over your mind and emotions to produce the level of personal success you desire in mastering your business and career goals, your health and fitness objectives, your relationships or wherever you’d like to apply that mastery.

Certainly this appears to be a tall order and verbose claim. Many books, programs and training that promise the pathway to wealth, success, happiness and mastery lead you to believe that this will be simple, quick, and easy. This is not that kind of book, nor does it make any such promises. Dr. L. Michael Hall, Neuro Semantics thought-leader said it best: “Personal mastery does not come easily, quickly, or even naturally.” If mastering personal success was quick and easy, we would see more people at this capability level. The truth is that “mastery takes effort, devotion, and unyielding passion to change your life’s status quo. If you don’t have this level of drive to change your life, who will? At bare minimum, you must possess the power of focus to apply yourself for the long-haul. Olympic athletes only reach the Olympics through the application of training, concentrated effort, and relentless focus. In this book, we will show you how to create this level of drive. We call it “learning to get leverage on yourself”.

That being said, gaining self-mastery competencies, skills and abilities by working towards personal success mastery will provide you with one of the most exciting, exhilarating, and empowering experiences you can ever have! You will often find yourself receiving rich feedback, evidence of outcome attainment and results, change, and success along the way. So much so that it will become easy to be absorbed in the passionate pursuit of your goals. To an outsider it may appear to be work, however, you will often find it to be fun and a natural part of the mastery challenge. Launching this journey helps to foster growth, shape character, builds integrity, and reveals values that are essential for a lifetime of personal success.

Harnessing the Power of Your Mind and Decision-Making

The mental mastery involved in “running your own brain” involves a discipline of understanding and skill, as well as physical and mental mastery. As with anything else we learn to a level of mastery, access to this level of expertise involves learning the principles (i.e., secrets) and applying or practicing them to build ownership. Like any other discipline, the more you apply, reflect, identify lessons learned, and master them, the easier it is to become fascinated and caught up in the experience of learning and the challenge of growing. It transforms your thirst for life to increasingly higher levels of understanding, insight, skill and abilities.

During your journey, you will explore multi-dimensional aspects of your mind, consciousness, and subjective experiences of “self-mastery”. This exploration will teach you methods to identify, access, and utilize the executive level powers of your mind. These elements of the mind control, organize, and govern the frameworks that operate how we think, feel, speak, and behave. Possessing these competencies gives you an insider’s knowledge about how to run your own brain and body, and the means to create your own experiences that align with the results you want.

Mastering Secrets of Personal Success is designed to provide you with some vital secrets of self-mastery using a personal, self-discovery approach. It will be based heavily on personal “experiential” learning exercises which build competency and skill. These exercises have worked for literally millions of people. They can work for you, too, provided you actually use them. We live in an age of information overload. Some people may be tempted to just read through the exercises to see if they are interesting. This is a good start, but you’ll need to actually do them if you want the results. The processes taught here are designed as a specific kind of experience. So when you do the exercises, be deliberate, attentive and thorough. Select a time of day when you will be able to devote the time you need and focus your concentration on every exercise step.

Actually imagine specific situations discussed in the exercise and follow the directions carefully. Most of the time, these “mental exercises” will only take ten to twenty minutes. You may even find it helpful, in some exercises to have a friend read the exercise to guide you through the process to achieve its maximum results. Remember, these are not “one-time only” workouts. The more you want to benefit from this book, the more important it is to apply these techniques consistently in your daily life.

Each exercise will immerse you into the “how-to” of running your mind. This technique takes you beyond merely explaining “theories” regarding how things work to practicing and experiencing proven, step-by-step strategies that place you at the helm of your mind’s executive powers. It is intended to give you a whole new level of personal empowerment. It will put in your hands the mechanisms by which you can effectively leverage control over your mind, emotions, body, experiences, and your destiny.

Recently, there has been an explosion of research into how our brains operate and the opportunities for advanced levels of use and impact. This study of “Neuroscience” has brought forth all kinds of new discoveries and advanced levels of learning regarding how we think, learn, decide, and do. Many of the scientists who study the brain have examined the notion that our brain functions can be modeled in operation much like a computer. If our brains are a kind of computer, then our thoughts, decisions, and actions are our software programs. If we could change our mental programs, just as we do when we change or upgrade our computer’s software, we’d immediately get positive changes in our performance. We would get immediate improvements in how we think, feel, act, and live.

The comparison with computers also explains why change is sometimes so difficult. No matter how much we want, wish, or hope, it won’t upgrade our software. Neither will getting angry, or entering the same old instructions over and over again. Someone once remarked that “if you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten”. What we need to do is add new instruction sets to our current programs in appropriate places where they belong. With a computer, the way to do this is laid out in the manual that came with the software. In our case as human beings, it’s been more challenging to do this since we did not come out with a manual in tow. This book is designed to help change that situation.

This book offers you a software manual for your brain. You probably have a computer at home or in your office at work. If you do, you may have a number of different software packages on it such as a word processing program, a spreadsheet, a financial program, etc. If someone suggested that you will need a separate computer for each program, you would challenge their assumption immediately.

However, this is what many people do to themselves without knowing it. For instance, they learn something well i.e., selling, managing, motivating, problem-solving, etc., and after a while think “This is what I’m good at”. They develop an area of expertise, and then they simply don’t know how to change their mental programs to develop another one. On the contrary, if your personal computer didn’t run a word processing program and a spreadsheet program, you would get it checked out or get a new system. When people can’t switch mental programs, they often begin to make excuses. They may even explain to you that they have a lack of talent, or the wrong body type or personality profile or even that they were born under the wrong astrological sign for that type of thing. The limitations, in this case however, are primarily in the software, not the hardware!

To get what we want, we need to change the way we behave to create a lasting change. Think about it…consider what you would accomplish if you could get a hold of the instruction manual for your brain. It could help you learn to master things such as:

  • How to run your supercomputer – your brain – the way it was designed. And to expand it as new situations arise (using previous lessons learned).
  • Change your thoughts, actions, and feelings “when” and “how” you want to.
  • Change your habits, in less than an hour, even after you’ve struggled for years.
  • Be the way you’ve always wanted to be: confident in times of crisis, tenacious and motivated when it really counts, as well as sensitive and receptive to loved ones and to life’s many gifts.

Remember those times when you were “in the zone”, things just clicked and worked perfectly. You experienced a sense of connectedness and control to your actions such that everything flowed like a well-oiled machine. And then there were those “other times”, when the pieces just didn’t fit together, when nothing you did seemed to go right. With the processes and techniques you will learn in this book, your knowledge and skill to realign your actions for success will be greatly enhanced. I’m certain you’ve noticed people in the world who accomplish things with ease. This book will help you gain the benefits of the processes they use to operate with excellence. This book will make their successful mental program available to you and others. These processes will help you move from hopeful dreams and good intentions to a specific set of precise skills and action steps you can use to powerfully transform your life and results. It will allow you to change what you want to change and keep those things that are in alignment with what you want and worth preserving.

The bottom-line is that these secrets of personal success mastery will build skills and empower you to have the kinds of fulfilling life choices you want. Practicing these processes will:

  • Put you in charge of your own motivation.
  • Help you create a compelling future and a personal roadmap to get there.
  • Build closer relationships and enhance your influence skills.
  • Clear up past negative experiences that may have held you back, especially from achieving your life goals.
  • Enhance your self-appreciation and self-esteem.
  • Create a solid positive mental attitude.
  • Gain more access to your mind’s executive level powers and programs for peak performance.

At the same time you will learn many of the characteristics of top achievers and the mental maps that make them so successful. You will be guided through specific programs for learning and using these characteristics. You will discover how you can utilize these techniques, skills and processes to accelerate your ability to learn. This broader range of personal success mastery is often a difficult concept for people to understand. They ask, “How can I apply the same methods to my issues of stage freight, negotiations, improving my self-esteem, strategic planning, motivation, and human excellence? Well, it works the same way that electricity powers a variety of things like computers, telephones, and cell phones. Electricity is basic to all of them. Similarly, as with any human accomplishment, your brain is the constant… it is basic to all of them. This book offers you cutting edge approaches of neuroscience that will teach you the fundamentals of how your brain works. Regardless of the situation, these approaches will show you how you can do more, have more, and be more.

Your Habits will Determine Your Future

What is a habit? Simply stated, a habit is something you do so often it becomes easy. In other words, it’s a behavior that you keep repeating. If you persist at developing a new behavior, eventually it becomes automatic. For example, if you learn to drive a car with a standard gearshift, the first few lessons are usually a significant emotional event for you and the person teaching you. One of the big challenges is figuring out how to synchronize the clutch and accelerator pedals so you have a nice, smooth gear change. If you release the clutch too quickly, the car stalls. If you press down too hard on the accelerator without releasing the clutch, the engine roars but you don’t go anywhere. Sometimes the car jumps down the street like a kangaroo, surging and stopping as the new driver struggles with the pedals. However, with practice, the gear change eventually becomes smooth and you don’t think about it anymore.

The great news is that you can reprogram yourself any time you choose to do so. If you’re struggling financially, this is important to know. Let’s say you want to be financially independent. Doesn’t it make sense to check your money-making habits? Are you in the habit of paying yourself first every month? Do you consistently save and invest at least 10 percent of your income? The answer is either “yes” or “no.” Immediately you can see if you are moving in the right direction. The key word here is consistent. That means every month. And every month is a good habit.

Most people dabble when it comes to growing their money. They are very inconsistent. Suppose you start a savings and investment program. For the first six months you diligently put your 10 percent away according to plan. Then something happens. You borrow the money to take a vacation, and you tell yourself you’ll make it up in the next few months. Of course you don’t-and your financial independence program is stalled before it even gets off the ground! By the way, do you know how easy it is to become financially secure? One example given by Jack Canfield (and others) in the book, “The Power of Focus” determined, if you start at age eighteen and invest one hundred dollars per month compounding annually at ten percent, you will have more than $1.1 million tucked away at age sixty-five. Even if you don’t start until you are forty years old, there’s hope, although it will take more than a daily dollar to do it.

This book will provide you with personal, skill-building exercises, strategies, worksheets templates and much, much, more to create the life you want.
